‘This sounds like a comedy skit IRL’: Entitled office worker yells at warehouse worker for doing their job, so blue-collar team comically locks her out of the building

Don't mess with your local blue-collar staff! This office worker learned that the hard way, and now her workday is made way more complicated.

  • "Petty revenge coworker story"

    After I graduated high school I took a job in a warehouse at a commissary. The job required taking tall carts on wheels off of semi trucks into an unloading zone where we needed to remove all of the food trays.

  • By far the quickest way to get the job down is to yank out the trays and then let them fall to the floor which made a very loud clanging noise.

  • (This is all relevant to the story btw.) Everyone that worked in that warehouse was used to the noise and no one ever complained about it ever.

  • We all accepted it as part of the job. Then one day a woman named Susan who had an office job all the way on the opposite side of the building decided to come into our warehouse to use our phones while she was checking inventory.

  • You should treat everyone with respect. Period. Unfortunately, it has to be constantly taught and re-taught that you must respect the people working in low-paying/high-stress jobs like the service industry or entry-level blue-collar work. An entitled employee at an office decided to make the work the blue-collar staff was doing in the warehouse on the other side of the building, her business. (That's no surprise to an entitled Karen…) Because of this, she got some of the employees in hot water simply for doing their jobs in the most efficient way possible. It did not affect her in any way until she went back there for some reason and it was “too loud.” Then leave, lady??? 

    Unfortunately, a Karen has to complain, and thus she did. Now, the warehouse workers have to do even more painstaking physical labor all because she needed to make a phone call in their territory, once… 

  • Me and my coworkers are solely focused on our jobs and no one noticed her being on the phone.

  • We're unloading carts and just trying to finish up our task so we can get home when out of nowhere Susan beelines straight over to me and she \goes off\ complaining about the noise.

  • Keep in mind that before this I had no idea who this woman was, what her job entailed or why she was even in our section.

  • And she continued to verbally come at me for a very very long time when a simple "Can you keep it down?" would've worked just fine.

  • I quietly just sat there and politely took it, apologizing when it was over. However, it didn't end there because the next day my boss called me into his office and had to chew me out.

  • He didn't want to but apparently Susan went way over his head and complained. My boss tells me we can no longer drop the trays.

  • I reminded him that we work much, much faster when we drop them. More importantly it's far better for our backs as well because we are literally pulling hundreds of metal trays every shift and to have to bend down to bring them quietly to the floor that many times in a shift could easily lead to back issues.

  • I also reminded my boss that I had never even seen Susan come to our side of the building before so why are we trying to be quiet for someone who isn't even around?

  • My boss didn't come to our defense (which was typical). He just said to s kit up.

  • Fast forward to a Saturday shift two weeks later. On Saturdays, the entire commissary is completely empty and the people in the warehouse are the only one's working.

  • Since Saturdays have a skeleton crew, there isn't anyone in security who can oversee who comes in and out of the building so they ask us to take care of it.

  • Suddenly a beautiful opportunity presented itself. Me and the other warehouse staff hear the door buzzer and look up at the security camera and, lo and behold, it's Susan.

  • As a bonus Susan looked like she was carrying quite a load. She was holding several boxes stacked on a mobile utility cart that had two wheels and you move it like you would a dolly.

  • These blue-collar workers did not deserve to be chewed out like that. And they most definitely should not have to do their work the hard way. Yes, sometimes that is necessary, but sometimes it is not. And in this case, it was not. But since Karen the tantrum-thrower had to have her way for literally no reason other than hubris, they now had to break their back to keep things quieter. 

    Well, because of her inconsiderate treatment of the blue-collar team in her building, she was about to get treated the same way. The Scooby-Doo-like antics that proceeded were brilliant. If only there were CCTV footage of this happening, because no doubt that real-life hilarity would go viral. We all love a good laugh, especially when it's karma serving up justice to an entitled person.  

  • The buzzer system didn't work like ones you see in apartment buildings where the door buzzes for a few seconds after you release this button.

  • For this system you had to press and hold the buzzer long enough to let the person get inside and on this day, Susan was not going to get that courtesy from me.

  • So this became a long winded exchange where she rang the door and I would hold the buzzer just long enough to see her reach for the door and then I would release it a split second before she could get past the locked door.

  • This was made much more difficult for her because the boxes she was transporting was not stable at all and she's doing everything she can to reach for the door before these boxes fall over.

  • Me and my coworkers were losing it watching her struggle on the camera, since all of us were affected by her recent stunt.

  • After a while, Susan was furious and started to storm away with all her files. She got halfway down the sidewalk when I decided I was maybe taking it a bit too far and I finally held down the button for much longer to give her a chance to come inside.

  • She heard the buzzer and scrambled as quickly she could to get to the door and open it.

  • In fact, she moved a bit too fast and her boxes finally fell over, spilling her files everywhere.

  • Then she finally got to the door and I had a moment of clarity and thought... "Nah" and I released the buzzer leaving her locked outside again but now with a big mess she had to clean up.

  • The cherry on top of the cake was that aside from the front entrance, the only other door anyone could take to get into the building was the one into the warehouse.

  • So she was going to have to cart her files all the way around the building, up some stairs, only to walk through our work area.

  • Once I saw her walk past I waved at her with the biggest sh\*t eating grin on my face.
